Particle in Cell (PIC): Error Estimates for Adaptive Grids    [PDF]

In this paper we present error estimates for adaptive particle in cell methods. We are motivated to reduce computational time with near- and fare-field problems and accelerate the solver processes. Based on the delicate problem to fulfill the physical constraints of momentum-, energy and mass conservation of the scheme, adaptive mesh operations are dealing with numerical errors. In this paper, we systematically derive the error estimates of uniform and adaptive schemes based on the PIC-cycles. An outlook to overcome the errors is discussed in the future works.
