Selection of the Taylor-Saffman Bubble without Surface Tension    [PDF]

A new class of exact non-singular solutions of integrable Laplacian growth is obtained for bubble dynamics without surface tension in a Hele-Shaw cell. These solutions are shown to converge to the experimentally observed selected pattern, which is proven to be the only attractor of this dynamical system. This result contradicts previous claims that surface tension is indispensable for the selection.
