Constructing completely integrable fields by the method of generalized
streamlines    [PDF]

A method for generating explicit solutions to a class of quasilinear variational equations is introduced. The solutions constructed are exact modulo an integrating factor. The method is applied to mixed elliptic-hyperbolic equations from geometric variational theory, shallow-water hydrodynamics, and singular optics.
