A Mathematical Aspect of A Tunnel-Junction Device for Spintronic Qubit    [PDF]

We study a mathematical aspect of a tunnel-junction device from the point of the view of spintronics. We consider spintronic qubit in the device and thus handle the Dirac particle living in the 1-dimensional configuration space with a junction. To make the mathematical mechanism of the device, we clarify all the types of the boundary conditions for the wave functions of the Dirac operator (i.e., the energy operator of the Dirac particle) so that the Dirac operator becomes observable (i.e., self-adjoint). Then, we find a tunnel-junction formula concerning the relation between a phase factor and the electron spin.
